Movies, Movies, Movies… Is that all?

After browsing through the website of the New York Times, I found an RSS feed on movies. Following my subscription to this feed, I learned Movies is a great source of information on the Hollywood media. When I had 30 minutes at my disposal to read the subscription, instead of reading every single new post, I would skim and scan the headings and only read the articles that sounded familiar. The feed produces quite a few articles daily, on an average of ten. With ten articles produced daily, of course Movies had a collection of writers. The topics range from documentaries, movies reviews, television biographies, deaths and births, and financial and production news. On the side of financial news, “The Dark Knight Owns Midnight” is a one paragraph article providing information on the amount of money earned on the midnight release of the much anticipate movie, “The Dark Night”. A piece on the meeting of the Screen Actors Guild and CEOs to improve sound and dialogue is sticks out like a sour thumbs in the lists of articles with much more sensational topics. While some articles can bore a person to death, the movies reviews are quite intriguing and informative. The article, “Does Your Mother Know You Sing Abba Tunes”, is the assessment of the Broadway musical made movie, Mama Mia. With descriptive text, the author subtly bashes the movie, writing that after viewers recover from the music “hangover”, they realize just how bad the movie really was. However, some articles cover the births and deaths of future and past Hollywood legends. Angelina Jolie Gives Birth to Twins” informs the world that one of the most famous couples in the world had twins and informs the world how the news was given out. Sadly, this feed had some death news in its mist. The acclaimed actress from “Gone With the Wind”, Evelyn Keyes, is given the proper acknowledgement for her work while the readers are intrigued with the juicy scandals of the actress’s life. Giving new perspectives on the media, this feed is staying in my Reader.
